Kariyoma College of Nursing Sciences gets approval to operate

Kariyoma College of Nursing Sciences, Lafia, Nasarawa State, has received approval to be established, following an application and a subsequent Approval/Resources Inspection visit.

The letter conveys the Honourable Minister of Education’s approval; the College now has a fixed effective date for the go-ahead.

Effective date of the approval

The approval takes effect from 6 February 2026, as stated in the notice. The approval is granted under the provision of Act CAP E3 LPN 2004.

Programmes approved for take-off

The Board also approved Interim Accreditation for the academic programme(s) listed below, along with the corresponding number of streams stated in the approval for the take-off:

  • Institutional Administration (Granted Approval)
  • ND Nursing Sciences

The approval is tied to the number of streams indicated; the College is expected to comply with extant government regulations and policies that apply to private polytechnics and similar schools.

When admission should start

Admission of students into the approved programme should commence with effect from the 2025/2026 session.

The notice also states a clear condition; the approval to commence the programme lapses if admission does not take place within the period stated above. After that, admission can only happen after a fresh Resources Inspection visit, carried out at the instance of the College.

When the first accreditation is due

The approved programme will be due for Initial Accreditation when the first set of students are in the third or fourth semester of study; that is the stated timing in the approval notice.
